TRAVELLING EXHIBITIONS
Failure and Success
Historical Heritage
Today the national and international exhibitions and games, listed below, often only reinforce the nostalgic visions of the historical heritage rather than proposing actual innovations.
Culture Politics
The monopolisation of culture by these organisations favours the culture politics of Western cultures.
These institutions curate events in the city with no urban strategy nor long term vision.
Architects and Urbanists finally need to complement these cultural institutions.
European Capital of Culture
The project takes as precedent the European Capital of Culture, financed by the Creative Europe Programme.
It proposess a department for architecture and urbanism which could complement, rather than radically subvert, the existing institution.
Proposal for a New Institute
This department for architecture and urbanism is a an appendix to ECCC and pilot satellite project which aims to:
1) reinsert a culture of production in secondary cities
2) make shrinking cities attractive and compact
3) build an urban imaginary and collective knowledge of each city.
Please note that the European Capital of Culture Programme is abbreviated ECC or ECOC throughout this document!
