FORMAT FACTORY - The Topographic Model : site as ground and as product

What is site?

I am regarding format as a site, as a cultural ground which slowly moves from the conceptual swamp to form the bedrock of the project. Format factory does not necessarily demand an analytical approach to existing site conditions but creates its own conditions.

In search for a site as white as the blank paper space, I traveled to Carrara in Tuscany, Italy, which is renowned for its expensive marble industry.

The extracted cube, driven by the proportions of the post-it, is now both the ground and the product of the site.
This marble can be exported as plinths, raw material for sculptures, tiles and so forth.

As the scales and dimensions are translated from the CNC model to the image (map, top view etc.), and vice versa, we can position ourselves on site.
